Inside the Actors Studio

sorry for not posting in forever. things you've missed:
1) cammie taking me out for a wonderful fancy dinner downtown. gormet food, got to dress up, drink a flirtini, laugh with cammie, get treated fancy because we're pretty and because hes a concierge...so fun!

2) my potential nervous breakdown when i cried on the way home for no obvious reason...other then just being stressed out, exhausted, and over school.

3) skipped school Tuesday (due to #2) and caught up on tons of work and took of monday nights and tuesday 1/2 day so i got a real sabbath. it was amazing. and i felt SO much better.

4) cammies St. Pattys party/birthday tuesday night. wore a green bow! made new friends! lots of good conversation and some yummy drinks.

5) school is awful.

6) i LOVE sex and the city. its built my self confidence, which i can say for NO other show. i love them. and i love new york! i go next thursday! one week! this time next week ill be sleeping in a NYC bed!

and now something fun!

Taken from "Inside the Actors' Studio", this is the 10-question quiz that closes every interview on the show. Anyone who has watched the show finds him or herself answering these questions anyway, so here's your chance.

Copy this into a new note, replace my answers with yours, tag some folks, and be amused by the answers you get back. If you need help posting a new note, just use the "help" link at the bottom of every page...

1. What is your favorite word?
slaphappy
its just really funny word, and i cant stop laughing whenever i say it!

2. What is your least favorite word?
cunt (gross right)

3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
art fulfills all those things. in any genre, visual, musical, or performance. i always walk away changed somehow.

4. What turns you off creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
people who try to hard to make their point because they are SO sure they are right. just chill out, we can have differing opinions and points of view.

5. What sound or noise do you love?
dishwasher running. puts me to sleep everytime...or any kind of fan really.

6. What sound or noise do you hate?
i HATE the sound of big buses, trucks, or loud cars and motorcycles. i typically drive with the windows up for this sole purpose. i only put them down when im in a neighborhood or something and its not going to attack me from the side. im cringing just thinking about that noise.

7. What is your favorite curse word?
oh its easily fuck. its just so useful in so many different ways. and i like how it really offends people, and why? i mean why does this particular formation of letters offend you? and why do we have sermons about not saying it? its just a word. we SHOULD have a sermon about saying all those awful words as seen in #1 though. i mean jeez.

8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
acting. fashion designer. graphic designer. writer. librarian.

9. What professions would you not like to do?
anything with finance, stocks, accounting. anything where you work in a cubical on a computer EVERYDAY ALL DAY. so graphic designer might be out;) also, anything with customer service. i hate people.

10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
hooray! now we can always be together! and then we dance, as usual...but so much sweeter.

The Craziest Week of Our Lives

Well last week was it. by far, the craziest, most stressful, and exhausting week of the semester (thus far, yikes). We have these awful Teacher Performance Assessments due throughout the program, and the first one is due on Thursday. They are a big deal. they get graded by teachers and the like, and the score gets reported to the schools you apply to teach at. and our school, requires a 3 or 4 (out of 4) in order to "pass". so its not something to mess around with. it really isnt that difficult of material, but it is very tedious (what else is new), and time consuming. There were 4 case studies in this TPA, each case study took me about 2 hours or a bit less...try doing that on top of your hours and hours worth of homework during the week already.
but i just submitted it, so thank goodness that craps over with. ill have 2 more next semester and the last one during my student teaching next spring. more fun!

Since school has been to crazy, ive had to give up one of my days off for homework and group project work. I arranged my schedule so i would work Friday and do homework there and then have Saturday and Sunday off...however, im not getting much homework done at the office with the phones ringing and people needing me to do things, and Sunday is now apparently group project work day and catch up on homework day since Friday homework isnt happening. and its not like my days when im at school/work are normal hours for normal people, on the contrary. i go to school for 6-8 hours and then come home and do 2+ hours of homework every night. all in all, IT SUCKS.

ive been noticing myself yawning ALL the time, so i decided to let myself sleep in today instead of exercising. im just going to make sure and exercise twice over the "weekend" instead. my goal of 4-5x/ week was laughable given my schedule, so ive gone back to my 3x/week goal and its working out nicely i suppose. after such a stressful week it was PERFECT to hang out and have some drinks with my girls who i havent seen in AGES. oh i missed them so!

ok, enough venting. in other news, ive been LOVING my growth group lately! we've been having so much fun and i really really like all of them a lot! except the one extremely weird and awful guy (theres one in every bunch)...and the 2 guys that i dont know very well, but im sure they're nice too. last week we made and served dinner and hung out at a family homeless shelter in Vista, it was wonderful! i made friends with a sweet lady named Louise who liked art and photography, so we had lots to talk about. and then our group went out to eat afterwards because we didnt want to eat the food we brought for them (not because it was gross, but because we wanted them to have it, actually it was really good.) so most of us all went to Chilies and had a light dinner and laughed till my face hurt. it was lovely. and then on Sunday i went to church and met Alyssa and James there, and right across the aisle was my GG! yay! so afterwards A&J had to leave so i hung out with my GG more and they were still so fun!
-this week we're having our "social" which will either be a bonfire on the freezing beach OR bowling. i realllly wanna go bowling since i think bonfires are kinda lame and boring, but im trying to be flexible here. i may or may not already have a crush on one of the boys, but we'll see what happens. i may or may not have crushes on lots of boys as a regular occurance, so im trying to pace myself. this is what happens when left alone for too long. jeez.

i saved enough money and bought myself some new much needed things! yay! i bought a new purse because all my others are broken but ive been in denial about them being broken, so i finally broke down and bought a new one. and i got 3 new sweaters so i can throw out the old balled up ones that dont even really fit me very well. and new shoes! which are for trapsing around NYC in, YAY! i love my flats and sandals, but they really arent practical for situations other then just school and maybe work in socal. other places have lots of rain and snow in all the seasons except Summer...so it was time to break down and get some shoes i can walk all day in but still look fabulous.
dont worry, they were on sale, i promise!

and i used the money ive saved from not eating out to buy 2 new LPs that ive been salivating over for months now. The new Andrew Bird and Jenny Lewis...JL's isnt so "new" anymore, but its still new to me! the website i found is amazing, i buy all my records from them now. they email you the MP3's of the songs right after you buy the record! LOVE IT!

alright, thats enough venting and bragging for one day. i dont want to do homework anymore!!! wahhhhhh

just a little

i just had to sign in and write something...because i miss you little bloggy blog!
im not quite ready to do a Cancun trip blog, too tired and overwhelmed for that...but maybe later this week. it was wonderful though!

coming home has been hard. i just have SO much to do for school and life and im having a hard time finding time to do it and stay a sane person. i miss my friends. i miss just casually watching TV. i miss not worrying about getting enough sleep because i have so much homework.

i think from here on out my life is more over then it has ever been over before. i made a commitment to exercise at least 3x a week for 3 months, and i can hardly even find 30-60 minutes in my week to do that! my homework/project load is unbearable! but i just keep telling myself, it will all get done. and to take it one day or one hour at a time...otherwise i get overwhelmed and start having panic attacks. so none of that thanks.

good news! i think my taxes are going to work out great! i knew i was doing something wrong with those...

Bellas doing better.

I WANT A BIKE!!! so badly! ive wanted one for awhile, and now all my friends are getting them and im just so jealous! my plan is to put it in my car and ride to school, park in the neighborhood and then ride from there so i dont have to pay for parking anymore. isnt that genius! im the best! but i have to invest in a bike first. and im down for a used one but i know nothing about fixing them up and dont have a handy boyfriend (or any boy friend) around to help me. so we'll see...

ill add it to my growing list of projects...seriously, the list is huge.

summer?
maybe its a good thing im not going anywhere so i can get all my projects done! and work. and go to summer school. man o man, im stressed out again.

time for bed then!
i like this one...but without the flames...and with a cute basket in front...and maybe some "saddle bags" for groceries and school days...oh how i want you!

Thursday, February 12, 2009

Peace Out!

well, today was spent getting my room ready, doing laundry, and taking care of the doggies before i leave for CANCUN!
im getting really really really excited!
i bought 4 new little dressy's for the trip (and for summer which is just around the corner! crazy!) and made my mom and annie watch me try them all on for a fashion show, fashion show, fashion show at lunch! i started throwing things i dont want to forget in my bag too.
my dad even got me a snorkel.

while i was doing all of this, i was also taking care of my poor pitiful Bella who is just a hot mess right now. Sparky "accidentally" bit her in the head a few days ago, and apparently dog bites get infected right away, and it was a really deep tooth wound in her lil head. so we tried to just compress it and give her antibiotics, but they had to do surgury today to put in this weird drainage system complete with stiches and a shaved 1/2 head. she also got her teeth cleaned and an ear infection taken care of while she was down. i was so upset when i picked her up that i couldnt help but cry it all out all the way home. i felt so silly, but shes my best friend. and is the SWEETEST dog and doesnt deserve to be in all this pain and confusion and bandages. she looks so terrible. but shes still being sweet and wonderful even though shes exhausted from the anasthesia and im sure shes in pain...or will be soon. shes all snuggled next to me sleeping right now...they're all in here actually. its nap time.

tomorrow im going to work and trying to get all this stupid homework done before i leave. i actually dont have that much, but on Sunday when i get back ill have a few hours worth waiting for me...but nothing i wouldnt of had to do on a Sunday anyway. unfortunatly i seem to have misplaced the book i have to finish and write a paper about...i literally have NO idea where it is and ive searched everywhere. i just checked the local bookstores too...nada. so im a little concerned about that one...

ALSO, i was just trying to do my taxes and my stupid Friday job took out like NOTHING for my federal taxes!!! now i owe like $430???? how did this happen! i dont even have $430 because i dont make any money government!!! so upset right now. help me Obama!

ok, back to work. trying growth group again tonight. we're talking about dating or something...this could either be really awesome, or terribly awkward...im thinking the later....but hoping for the best!

see you in Cancun, bitch!

perfect day for...

its all stormy and freezing outside, so i decided to skip yoga tonight and stay in to make low calorie cookies and fatty valentine cookies! and while they're baking, im going to craft! YAY!

but I'm not skipping exercising altogether, I'm going to do some carmen electra or one of my yoga videos here in my room instead...its just nice to be home and inside on days like this:) and to bake and craft! its the best!

over the weekend i went to visit Cammie and Micah. Micah was really busy so i only got to spend a little time with her, but me and cammie got to spend lots of time together catching up. we both love talking fashion, boys, travel, and anything really! so we had a nice time. we got to get amazing sushi and i got to see his fancy hotel he works at now...then church on sunday was so great. Brian McClaren spoke and it was so wonderful. i feel so relaxed when i get to visit their church. its not quite the same "home" feeling as when im with a YWAM group, but im sure eventually it could be. its not the same at my new church. but i shall perservere! man, i miss YWAM. after church we went to eat at the vegan/vegetarian mexican food place down the block, i love it there! i always try and go when im in north park. also everytime i go down there i get excited about someday moving downtown. its becoming more and more of a reality for me and seems so much achieveable then Paris, NYC, or Portland. so thats exciting! it always gives me something to look forward too!

im excited for Cancun next week!!! im going to try and blog while im there...but we'll see how my phone situation works out. my weeks are stressful enough, but trying to get all my HW done and prep for the trip is crazier then ever!

ok, the dogs are whining for dinner and i wanna bake so off i go!

A Checklist.

GOOD THINGS:
-IM GOING TO NEW YORK!!!! In case you havent heard, im going to NYC for another fabulous vacation with Miss Alyssa during our Spring Break!!! so far we have tickets to Chicago and Mary Poppins, and we're also thinking of splurging for Lion King. we want to rush for a few other shows too...besides the MET, shopping, the park, and everything else there is to do there of course. I LOVE IT! Ive decided i HAVE to start watching the Sex & the City now...ive been meaning to for awhile and i think this is such an occasion.

-im going to visit Micah and Cammie this weekend! i wanted to visit them for awhile now and to hear Brian McClaren speak at their church on Sunday. so its going to be fun.

-im going to Cancun so sooooon!!! next weekend! im so excited! oh man, i need to get my valentines together before i leave...whew!

-i got a sound system for my record player! it was really expensive for me, but apparently necessary for this record playing business is trickier then i thought. so now i need some more shelving in my room for all my speakers and crap and its just turning into quite the project.

-today we did a script read aloud and everyone gave me compliments on my acting skills! that was really nice and uplifted my confidence skills in my abilities. i miss theatre real bad and i discredit that i AM actually good.

-this week i went to yoga, walked the dogs for an hour, and did cardio at the gym for 30 minutes! tomorrow im going to the gym after work again, and saturday if its stopped raining ill probably take the dogs for another lovely walk. i love it!

-LOST, Gossip Girl, The Office, and Flight of the Conchords were all SO GOOD this week!!! i love tv. i dont really have time to watch it anymore...but i love it all the same.

BAD THINGS:
-I let myself have a tiny crush on a boy from school, only to find out he has a really ugly girlfriend and isnt as sweet as i thought anyway. so thats done. but it was fun for like 0.5 seconds. i miss having crushes on boys...besides Ryan my real life vampire...ill never stop loving you Ryan.

-having dogs is fun, but not when they sleep with you and wake you up at 2am to go to the bathroom, or lick themselves continuously until you turn on the light and they act like they got caught doing something wrong, or all come sit all over you in the morning and whine for their breakfast on your sleep-in day. yeah, sometimes its rough.

-im really tired and dont want to get up at the crack for work tomorrow...but someones gotta pay for all these rendevouz.

and what have we learned from all this? i need a rich boyfriend.

I RULE at this game!

the boy I've been "working on" (see "25 things" post, #21 if needed) in one of my classes,
DEFINITELY waited for me by the door to leave today when our groups were done working. his group finished a few minutes before mine so he pretended to be reading the outdated literature next to the door. as soon as i opened the door to leave he followed right behind me and walked out with me. we discussed his funny African dance class.

hes not as good at this game as i am, i figured out what he was doing as soon as i saw him.

i should be sponsored.

stay tuned!

25 random things about myself

FYI: i dont know how long im going to keep this up, so hurry and read it before it comes down.

Here's the rules. Come up with 25 Random things about yourself and tag 25 people in the note you would like to know more about. Some people have been funny, some serious, do whatever you want, k?---this is what it said before, do what you want!

1) I love technology and gadgets. as soon as the newest thing comes out, i want is ASAP. i swear its in the genes, my entire family has iPhones and would have it no other way.

2) I'm not competitive AT ALL. not with sports or school or anything. but i tend to excel in school because i work my very hardest at everything i do, even if its super hard like math and science. i often set the curve in my classes, shhhh dont tell anyone, my professors told me not to tell.

3) I can withstand a lot of uncomfortable things do to all my travels. extreme temperatures. disgusting bathrooms. dirty rooms or people. awkward people. hungry. annoying people. i typically take it all in stride, i wont be as perky as normal, but i deal without complaining, usually. i havent always been like this, its developed over the last few years.

4) I love dogs and all animals. seriously, its weird. i wasnt really into it even when i was a kid, its just developed over the last few years. i love my 3 doggies SO much, sometimes i stay home just to hang out with them because they are so fun! i like to make friends with all the animals i come across, cows, goats, chickens, other dogs, even cats ill talk to but cant pet them cause im allergic. for proof, see my pictures. its outta control.

5) I think A LOT. i seriously psychoanalyze my life, strangers, friends, it could be anyone or anything and I will think deeply about it. Sometimes i wish i could turn it off, i get tired sometimes. but its just a part of me. and its helped me understand other people and myself a lot better.

6) I hate the type of people and lack of culture where i live. i desperately want to move to Portland, NYC, Paris, any other big wonderful city. but im afraid that since ive grown up here, it will always be home and i cant escape.

7) I surprisingly know a lot about a lot of different things. health, traveling, fashion, art, history, film, music, photography, environment, theology, philosophy, literature, psychology, technology, politics and current events, and teaching of course. i can carry legit conversations on each of those topics. i suppose half is due to school, but otherwise i just like reading about these topics, talking to people, listening to the radio or TV, researching, etc. what can i say, i have a lot of interests.

8) I'm SERIOUSLY clumsy. its not that im uncoordinated, its just that im clumsy and dont have very good reflexes. i get hit in the head by the ball EVERYTIME im near or attempting to play basketball or volleyball. i injure myself constantly. its not cute. so dont get mad when i say i dont want to play sports and dont care about them, its really just my lack of competitivness mixed with self defense.

9) I feel weird hanging out with church people. apparently we arent allowed to talk about drinking, sex, or politics, and we cant swear. if it comes up, everyone gets really awkward and i HATE it so much it makes me just not want to hang out with them. it sucks, but its true.

10) for 2 weeks now ive been not eating out (unless its a special occasion) and have just been eating at home or packing food to save money so i can buy music. its been working. i think ive already saved like $50 or something. its kind of like a game, see how much food i can pack so i dont have to eat out. or, see how long i can go without eating until i get home. its fun.

11) i only wash my hair 2x a week. its pretty much the best decision i ever made. (dont freak out, i still shower everyday, sometimes twice i day if i exercised)

12) my hair hasnt been its original color since I was in elementary school. its just boring dirty blonde, just FYI. not cute.

13) my hair is the longest its EVER been and probably will ever be. freaks me out because i always wanted long hair ever since i was little, and i finally have it! crazy!

14) ok, enough about hair. im really flexible. seriously, i can do all the hard poses in yoga and can always lay my hands practically flat on the floor when im touching my toes. i think my flexibility may hide underneath all my flubber.

15) this semester i am reading 4 different books about the 1996 mount Everest climb. why, you ask? yeah, im still figuring that out. BUT i promise in 3 months i will know everything there is to know about Everest.

16) this summer is the first summer in 3 years that i will be home. its going to drive me crazy, seriously.

17) I have a body pillow i snuggle with at night because i hate sleeping alone. there comes a time in a womans life when its just natural to want someone next to u when u sleep, at least thats the theory im going with.

18) when im working on art projects i feel SO ALIVE. but i dont have time to do it very often, so it gets left behind. its actually really sad, my heart will hurt when i glance over at my drafting table and everything.

19) i love reading. its hard to read during school because we have so much reading to do, but i still try and read something during the semester. during school breaks i usually read no less then 4 books. over last summer i read like 8 books. love it!

20) i LOVE music. its not just something i say or pretend to be into. its how i LIVE. my 80GB ipod is almost completely full. i dont eat so i can buy music. i spend my free time researching music and watching my favorites videos online. my netflix is filled with live concerts im reallllly excited to watch. ive cried at many a concert. its just a way of life.

21) in almost every university class ive ever been in, i make "friends" with the cute boy in class. ie: we flirt and talk all semester but then disappear into our seperate lives afterwards. i didnt realize this was a common practice for me until just recently. even now im "working" on a boy and didnt realize it was part of my pattern until just now. gosh, i am awesome.

22) i love traveling. ive been to so many places on my list, but it just keeps getting longer and longer at the same time. i should be a professional traveler, im so good at it!

23) i have confidence issues. but i know this, and i work on it.

24) all i want to do is to work in a museum taking the kids on art adventures. or teach art full time at an elementary school. and then adopt a bunch of babies from India and live in a big house with animals, tree houses, art projects, dress up, crafts, movies, and so much fun i cant wait!!! these have been my life dreams for quite some time now. im excited for my life.

25) things i dont know or care about: sports, economics/financial business, cars, most science, most math, celebrity gossip, and sadly; most cooking. i suck at cooking, i try, and sometimes it works, but i just suck at it.

Posture

My Tim Gunn day calendar inspired me a few days ago when he said i should spend the weekend (and days thereafter) working on my posture. When I did my ol acting conservatory we worked on our posture a lot. im trying to remember everything i learned.

so yesterday and today ive been working on my posture. its not as easy as it seems. and it kinda hurts my middle back? so i dont think im doing it right.

i figured it wouldnt hurt, and i heard if you stand correctly it makes you look thinner, so hey.

its also helps me to stay focused on how im standing, walking, or sitting instead of thinking about myself or other people in not nice ways.

i didnt feel good today. ive been sleeping a lot because i dont feel good. the winds make my allergies act up. and im a girl so sometimes i feel gross. like now.

tomorrow im working and doing lots of homework, bleh. BUT then im going to drug myself up and go play with Melissa and Lauren and a new friend named Erin at Jaymas house! we're obviously going to watch anne of green gables, eat sweets, and craft all night! girls are SO FUN!

i love the gym?

soooooo last night i went to sign up for my free gym membership (thank you health insurance) at the lovely new 24 hour fitness they just finished building kinda close to mi casa.
WELL, the boy who helped me was SO cute and SO flirty, i had the best time! but then "the printer wasnt working" so i had to come back later for my pass, which was fine since i was tapping yoga at 730 anyway. so i came back. "still broken". but me and annie kicked yoga is the butt! it was so great! oh how i missed yoga. id slept weird on my shoulder so it was kinda sore all day, after yoga and stretching it a bit more its been fine ever since:) i love yoga! so me and annie have a date for every monday at the PACKED yoga class.

so i came back this morning to work out and get my pass. so he printed it for me ok, and we flirted some more, and i flirted with the other guys working there who are all real pretty and friendly. i know its their job to be pretty and friendly, but it was fun all the same.

anyway, i did some cardio for 35minutes and did really well and everything, but when i got off i seriously almost fell over Bridget Jones style and i had issues remembering how to walk to my car...it was really funny. then i didnt have time to stretch or do weights so i just peaced out but everyone kept staring at me and it was either because im sooooo beautiful or because i was extremely red faced and sweaty. now, i dont know if i was red faced, but i assume so. either way, i love the gym! all the boys are pretty and like to watch you exercise and walk around. it kinda feels like a meat market, but i just ignore everyone and enjoy my break from life.

oh and PS: i enjoyed my work out too, it was weird for me. i used to HATE exercising, but it was suprisingly fun and relaxing and my body felt so happy the entire time and afterwards! so lets see, cute boys+break from life+get to read and listen to music+feel really good+lose weight=i love the gym?! did anyone ever think i would utter those words? i certainly didnt.

in other news, i dont think i give myself enough credit. i totally made it through the yoga class and cardio today without dying or falling over or anything, i really had no problem with either. even though i havent officially "exercised" in awhile, i do walk my dogs, and can bust carmen electra strip tease, and can walk for miles a day for weeks in Europe without issue (besides the blisters).

ALSO (this has been a big also), im cute. boys look at me. i dress well. im not this awful huge creature ive made myself out to be. im so busy feeling bad about myself i dont look around and compare myelf to the reality of people around me. of course not all people arent cute, but when i really look around, i see that most people are average. its all gonna be ok. so all in all:

im kinda awesome.

but dont worry, next week ill be back to telling myself im ugly and fat and suck at life.
its sadly only a matter of time.

well little blog, that was quite deep and revealing for today. every once in awhile it does happen. well thats enough then.

i promise this is my last picture of myself from Paris, haha. i just thought it was fitting. and kinda awesome at the same time. i pretty much RULE at photography;)

Some New Favorite Things

Some New Favorite Things:

1) soooo my new favorite thing in the world is the Carmen Electra Aerobic Strip Tease workout DVD. i know it sounds absolutely absurd and "where is Esther and what have you done with her?!" but seriously, its SO fun. i bought it on a whim the other day when we were at Circuit City because it was on sale and I'd always wanted to try it and heard it was pretty fun. oh man, im so glad I did. it totally got me into working out, i have so much fun. today i even dressed up sexy and put on some heels to do the routine, then i turned off the DVD and put my own music on (The Faint, if you must know) and it was seriously the BEST!
some boy is going to be extremely lucky someday.

2) ive decided to stop buying food and just save my money for music. for 2 reasons.
  1. My Music List is out of control: its so long that it makes my heart hurt to just look at it. i havent had money to buy any of the albums as they come out, so i just suffer without them. So ive decided to take $10-$20/week (which is a lot when you only make $80/week for food and gas + fun stuff) and set it aside for 2-4 vinyls at the end of each month. I believe this may help control my issues. we'll see. I bought 3 new long awaited records last night! it was really really really exciting! now just 20 more and we'll be good...
  2. the less food I eat out, the healthier I eat. and we all know my endless battle with my body. this takes care of that now doesnt it.
3) Dried Mangos. Alyssa brought them just to try them on our trip and after one bite out eyes got HUGE and we quickly agreed they were amazing! trader joes has them without anything added, literally just some dried sheets of mango. so stinkin good. ive eaten them almost everyday since. which is a big deal, since i dont really like fruit.

4) long hair. as much as we fight, i just love her. i can do so much with her and we have lots of fun with all my new bows and headbands, shes the best. ive had to get used to a lot of things though, such as remembering to move it to the side when you put your purse on your shoulder or even just to hoist it up a bit, otherwise its death. sleeping with long hair can also be interesting, we've tried a few different things: hair on top in a loose bun, but then my head hurt and it looked weird the next day. hair in a loose side braid: but then it got knotty and still made it look weird the next day. so we've resolved to just loose but all up and over the pillow, sometimes i gather it or something...its quite the process. most recently and most horribly has been the knots taking over the entire underneath layer of my hair. i cant put any hair spray in it or the next morning its DEATH. im not exagerrating when i say i spent an hour trying to get the knots out of my hair one morning, and not even finishing. they get as big as a fist or two. but i think ive worked it out, wide tooth comb during conditioning in the shower and some bumble bumble detangler may just do the trick. yes, i just wrote an entire paragraph about my hair, but whats even sadder is that you read the entire thing. and didnt even mind.

i have some websites i could share that im also currently in love with, maybe some new music, or how much i love the weather we've been having. but i really want to go work on my "scrapbook" so instead im going to peace.

lovelove.

i miss my second home. Versailles.

ok ok im back already

hopefully my "faithful" blog readers were able to correctly switch over to the other blog while i was enjoying my life in Paris. did you miss me? i know you did Kelsey, love it!

oh friends, twas wonderful. It was everything a vacation should be, and MORE. Alyssa and I had so much fun being adults on our own vacation and just doing whatever we wanted too..."im tired, wanna sleep in tomorrow and then go out?", ok. "wanna eat snacks for lunch and then splurge for dinner at a cute cafe?", ok. "wanna drink wine until the morning with fun Australians?", ok. whatever we wanted to do, we did. it was amazing!

besides that, i almost died from all the beauty that surrounded me on a regular basis. the art, architecture, fashion, and beautiful boys: i was on sensory overload.
it was like my heart painted a picture of a city just for me, and I finally got to visit it.

(SIDE NOTE: good news! a guy in our office just brought in his nephew whom they are in the process of adopting, hes 8 and in 2nd grade so OBVIOUSLY we became friends! within 2 minutes i figured out hes troubled academically, behaviorally, and has a rough road ahead, so i gave him some tips for how to kick 2nd grade in the pants! i love kids. and i love that it comes so naturally to me. its these little moments that get me through all the CRAP that awaits me at school. arg. anyway, back to Paris.)

Everyday in Paris was the best day! i just loved it so so much, its hard to choose my favorite things because every moment was so wonderful. i wont go on and on, just read the blog of what we did each day and know that everyday was AMAZING.

i had such a hard time coming home. i tried to prepare myself, but i still got grumpy and minorly depressed. it got so bad that I had to specifically pray that God would give me perspective on why im doing what im doing right now. Especially since in every incredible museum we went to, where I'd spend hours in one room, there would be a museum hired teacher taking groups of kids around and sitting them in front of a Van Gogh or Degas or whatever and talking about it in beautiful French. i couldnt even handle it! and then to come home to face a bunch of crap science courses, reading tests, lesson plan tests: basically a bunch of junk i dont even want to do. lets just say its frustrating. and to top it off, to find anything open later then 9pm, let alone 7pm, is a friggen miracle. plus, theres no public transportation. you cant walk anywhere. nothings pretty. and theirs no baguettes on every street corner. im just fussy.

ok what else, back at school. this semester is gonna be another crazy one. im trying to schedule in exercising and social events, but its hard. i forget how exhausting school becomes. i joined a small group on thursday nights with the single young adults at north coast church in vista. it was an interesting first night, everyone seemed nice but i had some noteworthy observations.

1) everyone was extremely awkward: really guys? how old are we?! just talk to each other, how hard is this? i think being a social creature whose been in TONS of strange situations and has just learned to be fun and not uncomfortable, i was frustrated.

2) im not in coastal north country anymore: what a concept, everyone was normal looking and even just wearing old jeans and hoodies! they drove old cars and lived in little apartments. it was SO weird for me. im used to going to church or even just the local stores and its like walking onto the set of the OC or Gossip Girl...but with sandals. i felt a little out of place, kinda like we grew up in different countries and spoke different languages...but im sure it will be fine. we'll see.

3) it was weird being in a church small group again: i forgot that they dont talk about drinking or sex, and are pretty conservative politically, and think homosexuality is awkward and feel the need to joke about it when they accidentally say something weird. that got old, real quick.

im trying REALLY hard not to let any of that bother me or deter me from getting involved and investing in the community there. this is just my first step so i can get further involved in the large group, im sure theres people who think like me somewhere there:) if not, then i can always peace after a few months and try somewhere else. no church will ever be perfect.
(repeat to self as necessary)

ok thats all for now. i have more we could get into, such as the breakthrough me and Jesus had yesterday, or the Aussie i kissed in Paris story, the LOST premiere, my crazy new professor whose entire class is about Mt. Everest, etc. but until next time.

lovelove.

PS: all my picture links are on the Europe blog. pretty much all of them are awesome, it was hard to keep the ones i posted down in size because like all 400 of my pictures were so lovely! and then we had Alyssas too! im tagged in Alyssas pictures on facebook, but heres a few anyway.

Wake me up before you go go

alyssaandesther.blogspot.com
I'm in Paris January 6-15 (i know right!). We'll post it up real good at the above blog, so until then here is my last post!

Things:
-I have a legit crush on the butcher at Albertson's. He's a big tall, cuddly, strawberry blonde, with a beard! How could I resist! This has been happening for the last 6+ months...at least i think hes the butcher. unfortunately since i dont eat meat ive never actually gotten to interact with him...besides locked eyes across the aisle on numerous occasions, *sigh. this should be a story, the vegetarian who has a crush on the butcher. oh my life.

-WICKED was absolutely amazing! I read the book years ago, and have known all the music forever, it was SO special to see how everything looked on stage. It was beyond my imagination, which is hard to do! The girls who played Elphaba and Galinda were just incredible. Megan Hilty as Galinda truly inspired me as an actress...i miss theatre mucho. I may have cried 2 times during the play just because it was so good and i didnt know what else to do with myself!

-me and mom went to the Norton Simon museum in Pasadena too, it was so great! They had lots of impressionist art from Degas and Van Gogh, and a special Vermeer and Rembrandt area too! It was such a special day, i was overwhelmed by the beauty in the museum and then the play...it was just a good day! so inspiring!

-Then me and mom went shopping in Pasadena, i got some cute (and cheap! yay!) hair clips and earrings, had a pannini for lunch (my favorite), and we went to a really cool antique store too! I got some old postcards from Italy from there, but we had a lot of fun trying on glasses and hats and looking at all the furniture and old books. also, inspiring!

And now its packing/last minute get stuff together for Paris day! cant believe its already here! Except its really cold and i went to bed late and i didnt have any caffiene or a vitamin or anything today so im really sleeeeepy...maybe ill just nap and pack after dinner:)

it IS 4pm...esthers nap time! (learn it. live it.)

ok, well im off to Paris. enjoy work and school! ill be back complaining about everything before you know it! See you then!

Being 23 is awfully fun, and after 10 more months of this, I get to be 24 for awhile before 2010 too! so fun! I feel like the 19-22 time was just weird...lots of up moments and down moments and not a lot of in between, now i feel like i have lots of up moments and in between moments in my life...and hardly any crap moments. what i accomplished at work today, and also my green item from the survey. amazing.

Its the Little Things

Heres some random things that have been on my mind lately, enjoy:

a) last week i made friends with a bee and i havent stopped thinking about him since. he landed on the front window of my car right in my eye line! we became friends immediately because id never seen a bee that close before. After we discussed how cool he was, I politely told him that i needed to drive now and that it would probably be wise for him to fly away. But he didnt! he stayed with me while i drove to the store, and then stayed while i shopped, and then drove all the way home with me! by now we were getting along fabulously, but i noticed he was flapping his wings as much, and his little feelers werent moving much either. I began to get concerned. When i parked and went home for the night, I said goodnight and told him I hoped he made it through the night. He was gone by morning.
for some reason it made me really sad. i made friends with my little bee and then he either died or flew home, im pretending it was the later. anyway, it was a fun evening making new friends.

b) i flossed my teeth last night for the first time since my dentist appointment...about 6 months ago. they always beg me to floss because apparently i have beautiful teeth but bad gums (hereditary) so i have to floss and then ill have perfect teeth! but i dont, because it always hurts a lot and smells and its absolutely disgusting and i cant handle it. so i finally broke down and bought those little floss swords (dentist said that was better than nothing) and stuck them in my side table drawer with a post it on my lamp to remind me. so they've been in there for 2 weeks and last night was my first time trying them. Good Lord is HURT. and it smelled and was disgusting of course, but i stuck through and did all my teeth. i wont bore you with the details, but lets just say blood was involved and my mouth hurting almost kept me from falling asleep. this morning it STILL hurts and specifically two of my gums are all swollen and sore. now i have two choices, i could either say, "hey! this is why you need to floss more! it wont hurt if you do it all the time!" OR "this is why you dont floss!!! it hurts like a bitch!!!" as of right now, im taking the second route. but hopefully when the swelling and soreness subsides, ill try again. my mouth still hurts, this sucks.

c) everytime i get the guts to ask the beautiful boy who sometimes work here out for lunch, hes not here! last week i even walked back to his office, but he was gone in the bathroom or something. today i came ready to do it, but he hasnt showed up yet and now that its 10a i dont think that he will. it took me AGES to work up the courage to do it, and now here we are. arg.

d) tomorrow is my girls Christmas Exchange! Im SO excited! Me and cassie and annie and jordan will be having lunch together and then all traveling up to Kelseys for an evening of fun! we'll be going out for a semi nice dinner (yay!), driving around looking at lights and probably drinking a special christmas beverage and playing our Christmas Carol singing game, and then back to Kelseys to sit by the fire and have yummy kelsey dessert and exchange our secret santa ornaments. SO FUN! seriously, you wish you had fun girl friends like us.
"Seriously, sometimes I wish I was someone else, just so I could be friends with us.
"

e) I've been REALLY enjoying Christmas this year! last year kinda sucked because we were supposed to go to New York as our big Christmas present and one week before the trip the rents informed us we werent going, which totally sucked! This year i have all this time because im still only working 1 day a week, ive been spending time wrapping my gifts in fun ways, making ornaments, spending time with family and friends in town, making gingerbread houses and drinking soy nog, singing christmas carols, and even baking! last night i made some low cal fudge (i think its so yummy!) and next week im going to try and make some low cal chocolate chip cookies. its so funny to me how fussy people are with their foods and beverages. i think ive gotten so used to lactose free, meat free, and low calorie foods that whatever i eat in that catagory, i usually like. i have to choose, either NO egg nog or get used to soy egg nog, and after for many years i just prefer it now. same with fake cheese, low calorie desserts, etc. i guess its a good thing...but then when i do pay for actual food, if its not good i get really pissed. what are you serving me, cat?

f) i love crafts! i made a little ornament and today im going to work on a big one. the gingerbread house and my gift wrapping is just the funnest ever! i have some other projects in the words as well, headbands, stamps, stencils, and sewing. oh i also need to make my scrapbook for Europe before i go to Paris and have a whole nother pile of tickets and pictures to scrapbook! SO EXCITED!!!

this is my life:
  • Vegas in December
  • Paris in January
  • Cancun in February
  • New York in March/April
  • Oregon in May (hopefully!)
i love my life!
ready for Christmas!

VEGAS

soooo me and annie spent Saturday doing fun Christmas things. We went to lunch at sushi and then the grocery store to buy supplies to make home made gingerbread houses! we had a wonderful time listening to Christmas music, making the houses, and drinking egg nog with rum for the afternoon. then we went to my house to make crafts! we made ornaments, so fun! by then it was about 6pm and my dad asked me, "what are you girls going to do tonight" he furthered by reminding us it was a Saturday night and we were young and single...so Annie half jokingly said "we should go to Vegas!" apparently it only takes 4.5 hours to get there (longer if Annie drives) and to stay at the Excalibur which is pretty nice its only $60/night. so we booked our room right then, packed our bags, and peaced OUT!

we arrived around midnight and i got showered and all fancy shmancy and ready for a night out! by about 1am we were at "Dicks Last Resort" watching an amazing band and watching everyone already drunk and being really funny. within 30 minutes of being out we got hit on by some Canadian boys and a Finnish lad. the bar closed so we went to another bar in the casino...and then over to the Luxor...and then the Monte Carlo...and then New York New York...all with our new boyfriends in tow. needless to say, it was a lovely night.

ive never been treated so nicely by a boy, it was weird to say the least. he was just really sweet with me and kind and genuine. and i acted like a real lady and we just had a nice time together! and i looked so pretty and everyone kept looking at me and it was such a confidence boosting weekend! out of all of trailer park Vegas, we managed to find the nicest guys EVER and had such a wonderful time!

other: i played craps for the first time (won $20! but then lost it;), tried vodka redbull for the first time (love it, but i couldnt sleep for like 12 hours afterwards soooo), got snuggled by the best cuddler EVER, got to kiss a boy, felt pretty, didnt go to bed until 6am, had a BLAST!

so we all slept for 2 hours (really i didnt sleep, but i watched everyone else sleep, damn vodka redbull!) and then tried to find breakfast somewhere to make ourselves feel a little less haggard, and then it was time to go. we had such a nice time together but we didnt exchange information or anything like that, im pretty ok with it, but it would have been nice to be friends on facebook or something, owell. it was 12 hours together, we arent going to get married or anything anyway, but still, we had fun together and its weird to just say goodbye forever. owell, if ive learned anything from my travels, its how to say goodbye forever and learn to be ok with it.

so thats Vegas. so much fun. a lovely canadaian boyfriend for 12 hours. pretty. annie and i are crazy...but you SO wish you were there too.

lovelove.
