Oh Whats-his-name, you slay me. strike three!

Remember how whats-his-name fell off the face of the planet for...2.5 weeks now? Remember how it was because "he was busy with work" and "had the flu?"

Well, lets have a little snippet into our FINAL conversation (via text) in a little episode I like to call,
"A Jerkface? Or not a Jerkface? That is the question."

Set the scene: After I got his long message on Saturday about how sick he was and sorry for not calling FOR TWO WEEKS I decided to call him back Sunday evening. Left a normal person voicemail. Didnt hear back. I decided Tuesday night would be a good time to check in and see how he was and if he was worth my time.

Me: Are you dead? Did you die of swine flu?!

Whats-his-name: Dude, why u keep saying im dead? this's like the fourth time ur telling me that

Me: uhhhh because you had the flu and Im asking how your doing. nm I wont bother you again, jeez!

Whats-his-name: yea, usually people say "how are you feeling?" not if im dead

Me: well I guess im not usual people then.
-------

I KNOW RIGHT. Stop me anytime if im overreacting...BUT There were no words. I was literally speechless at his reply. There were so many emotions...anger, annoyance, sadness, confusion...I may have teared up a little upon the first reading. I mean, my stomach jumped into my throat at how incredibly rude and WEIRD his reply was. Granted, I did ask him if he was dead 2 weekends ago when I hadnt heard from him all weekend...even though we were supposed to have plans. And, my texts werent super star but its something I would ask any friend if they were sick, its just a fun way to ask how they're doing, right? Seriously, this guy is so freaking weird. I mean, WHO SAYS THAT?! Especially to a girl they supposedly like? so rude.
So that was his last strike.
hes donzo.
Even if I am overreacting, then apparently we dont communicate well and Im over it. I cant believe how angry I am about it.

Thoughts racing through my mind...
"is he SERIOUSLY talking to ME that way? Are you kidding? Who do you think you are? Why would I want to date you when you just made me feel bad about myself? What is wrong with you? How dare you speak to someone like that? Am I overreacting? uhhhh no, if any guy makes you feel bad about yourself then hes so not worth your time. Dating is supposed to be fun. dating is supposed to be fun. dating is supposed to be fun..."

so yeah, file that away in the weirdos folder.

so now when he calls, mamas gotta SHUT IT DOWN. thats right. DOWN.
and he'll call, dont you worry, they always call. ahaha

In other "dating" news, besides the Thursday date with One I now officially have a date with Number 2 for Friday. I convinced him to drive up here so we can go to a free movie in the park that Ive wanted to go to all month. We will be seeing Four Frightened People. I plan and drinking all the wine and making out like all my other dates!

Joking people. that was a joke. Please dont leave me comments about how Im a whore. I know already, thanks.

Ive just made an executive decision to start tagging my entries. Mostly because I love the nicknames for my dates so much that I want to tag the entries about them.

oh, Numero Tres emailed me with the subject titled "Hello Emily". Poor Numero Tres, he never even had a chance.

Oh, The Times They Are A Changing...

Some things are just weird.

Like, whats-his-name barely contacting me for like 2 weeks (see previous posts about our 3 dates over the last few weeks) then to find a voicemail from him on my phone last night, "so sorry, I've been super sick with the flu all week and have been missing work and its just been really awful..."

uhhhhh now what.

THEN One plans to take me out on Thursday. He picked a restaurant with vegan food which was cute, BUT THEN. BUT THEN. BUT THEN. we're going mini golfing. IF YOU KNOW ME AT ALL, YOU KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT GAMES IN GENERAL. LET ALONE MINI GOLFING.

uhhhhh now what.

Phone interview for Teach for America.

Good. I think I did really well and knew what I was talking about...it was actually a lot easier then I thought it would be. I think practically being a teacher already helps...a lot. The final in-person day long interviews are between October 19-23, I sign up for a day. I find out if I made it to the final interview on October 6, my birthday! The day long interview is what Im dreading. Not because it will be difficult, but because it will be boring...haha. Also, I just read about the summer institute Ill have to do if I make it. 6 weeks of intensive teacher training and then teaching summer school for 2 hours in the evening. kill me now. I already am SO SICK of my teaching program, i dont know if after I graduate Im going to be down to spend 6 weeks doing it all over again.
PS thanks to everyone who asked how it went! Your all so stinkin cute, i love it. And I know you all secretly dont even want me to really leave you, so its extra sweet:)

Birthday.
So far the plans are weird and slim and everythings been crazy and its frustrating. But I have 2 for sure AMAZING adventures planned and am thrilled about them. BirthDAY me and my best girlies from school are putting our passes to good use and going to disneyland!!!
1) you know how much I <3 disneyland.
2) birthdays at disneyland should be a law.
3) i have a pass for I get $70 disney dollars to spend instead of getting in for free!!! My plan is to all get Mickey Ears to be adorable for the day and I want to spend my dollars eating at the Blue Bayou which Ive never gotten to do before and I get to wear a "its my birthday!" pin and get lots of attention. And you all know how much I love attention, haha.
THEN me and my original best girls are going downtown on Friday to dance it up real good. Cammie hooked us up with a sweet hotel room at his work. Ive never officially gone dancing downtown, I dont know if ill like it since im more of a north park kind of girl...but who cares, its my birthday+drinking+favorite girls+getting dressed up+music+dancing= GOOD.

I have other friends I want to celebrate with too, but I dont like forcing them to take me out to celebrate for my birthday. haha. So dear ones, its all in your hands. Call me and ask to do fun things with me.

NOT MINI GOLFING THOUGH.

oh god, what am I supposed to do about that.
More importantly, what am I supposed to wear to this soiree? What does one wear mini golfing? Normally I get dressed up for dates, do I have to wear pants now? But I hate pants. And what if whats-his-name calls? pants and golf and boys?! this is all too much for a girl to bare.

Halloween

Can I PLEASE be her for halloween?! Think I can pull if off? Its between the two...

OR

Last year I was Holly Golightly and I havent dressed up otherwise. Its time to get serious people. Wont look this good forever, hahaha

Stories from the 5th Grade

Today the kids were being suuuuuper funny. I kept just stopping and laughing at them, they are just so hilarious sometimes!

1) The teacher was reading aloud a story and every once in awhile stopping to make sure they understand words or ideas:
Teacher: so guys, whats a "social life"?
Student: DATING! (laughter ensues)
Teacher: what?! a social life isnt dating!
Student: yes it is!
Teacher: Your in 5th grade! You dont even know what dating is! (giggling...)
Student: yes we do!

2) Just normally transitioning between activities, when there is a calamity in between tables!:
Teacher: whats going on?!
Student: its Charlie!
Teacher: what?
Other Student: its the bug!
Teacher: you guys named the bug?
Another Student: ahhh dont step on Charlie!
Teacher: can someone please just take the bug outside.
All Students: awwwwww

I was on the other part of the room so I didnt exactly know what was going on and had to ask a student:
Me: whats going on?
Student: its just Charlie
Me: what?
Student: charlie the pincher bug. (as if it was SO obvious)

They are super fun and sweet sometimes. But seriously, 5th graders can be quite the little stinkers. Today was the first day I realized I actually really like each of them. Its been almost a month. It took me that long, haha.

Wine date tonight with Number 2? But not before a nap. Those stinkers know how to wear a girl out.

Not Crazy Anymore.

New boys want to date me! hooray!
To begin with:
So whats-his-face never called all weekend. I was somewhat concerned since its very unlike him not to call when he says he will...and lets face it, I was somewhat annoyed. so I texted him to make sure he wasnt dead and sure enough he had to go out of town for work. You couldnt have told me? Very rude. I didnt say that to him of course. But I thought it...lots. But he said hed call me this week, so Im trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. Well, its Wednesday. Which still gives him a few days, but I'm not counting on it. and after a day or two of being bummed and anxious about it, I'm fine now. Just all of a sudden I was fine yesterday and didnt care if he ever called again. So there you go.

And always, just when I think Ive gotten used to things as they are things change again. Yesterday after I was all fine, 3 more boys asked to take me out. Yes, thats right. three. And not just random weird ones, they asked too but I dont count them, actual legit young men.
Well, kinda.
One is 2 years younger then me and just graduated and is unemployed, gross. But after I told him those were my reasons for not going out with him (just a weird thing I have...must not be younger or cant not have a job...so strange isnt it;) he wrote me this long thing where I was convinced that at least we'd have a nice evening together and Id get a free dinner out of it, haha. So yeah. He'll be calling. I promise Ill be nice.

Number 2 gentlemen actually has a real job and from what I know about him, he reminds me of whats-his-name. Same kind of job with investment banking or something and similar life aspirations. He was nice and again, not my type, but not unattractive either so Im going to let him take me out. We have a wine date for tomorrow evening. I still dont have a lot of expectations for it being either good or bad...but it could still be fun. I didnt make it shopping the other day, now I HAVE to go! yay!

Finally numero tres is some beautiful actor man from Glendale who talked to me for like an hour and was SO nice and we had such a lovely conversation! He asked for my number but I doubt anything will happen. He just lives so far away. But it was still fun to have someone interested in me. Thats always nice for us single girls. we need attention too.

So thats my update for the day. Ill keep you all posted on how things go with number 2 and if anything happens with One or Numero Tres. And yes, those shall be there names now. Number 2 keeps reminding me of this guy:
Who isnt even the real Number 2 from AP, but I just keep thinking of him. Remember when he kept dying and it wouldnt work out? ahaha Oh man, mike myers and will ferrell together are like my dream team.

The real Number 2. Hopefully mine wont have an eye patch. Or be a million years old.

TIRED

I'm tired of writing about my boy woes. However, today is the first day where i feel like its not consuming my thoughts entirely. So instead of whining about how boys suck and im going to die alone, Im going to discuss (probably whine) about other things.

But just really quick. We have this awesome conversation on wednesday, right? Then he texts me and we talk throughout the week and I get a...ill call u when the weekend gets closer so we can make plans...and everythings great. UNTIL the weekend comes and nothing. nada. zip. Just as I was beginning to maybe trust this guy a teeny tiny bit, he pulls this crap. And honestly, i dont care THAT much. Im just more annoyed than anything else. And extra frustrated that now I have to deal with THIS. He said that he was a gentleman and always calls even if its to tell a girl he thinks they should just be friends. His record has been perfect so far. SO i can only expect hes going to call and either give me the "lets just be friends" speech OR I have to give him the "your rude and wasted my time this weekend and may not call me again, ass." NEITHER is appealing to me at the moment. plus, seeing your extremely ex boyfriend with his new girlfriend over the weekend while all this crap is going down doesnt exactly boost a girls self esteem. and now I feel bad about myself. awesome. Glad the weekend is over so I can get back to being busy...and awesome.

in other news. in regards to feeling bad about myself, Ive been thinking more about moving to NYC. I have my phone interview for the program THIS WEEK. Ill find out if I made it to the final interview at the end of the month, and final interview is at the end of October. But suddenly I dont feel "cool" enough to move to NY. And how will I make friends if I teach children all day? I dont know any cool restaurants and I dont know if I want to fit into the Brooklyn crowd or the uptown crowd...decisions decisions. Then again, beautiful men wanted to befriend me literally on every corner and its so different there...they just strike up conversation with you and then your going out later for drinks. Its crazy. Not like here. SO different. Its like NY is one big party where everyone you meet was invited so you already have that in common. What if I get depressed from constant dreary rain all the time? What do i do with Worms?
I guess moving is always scary. Moving to NY is always scary. I just want to go. Im going to go. Ill figure it out. Im still going. And if it sucks Ill just fly across the pond to Paris and remember where I can find my soul whenever necessary. Or just fly to visit Cassie and REALLY remember who I am. Oh, I do miss her.

Lets face it. Ill never be as "cool" as her.

THE PLAN:
Im going shopping. Whenever I feel bad about myself I go shopping to remember how awesome I am. I am a very good shopper. And do not deny myself the high one gets from buying something 75% off, I just use it wisely.

Im also going to bake a pie. A vegan peanut butter pie and you cant stop me. Also, to remind myself how awesome I am. Shit, I can shop and bake and care for large groups of children, Im like a professional 1950's housewife over here. Now wheres my vodka and Valium;)

Still a Crazy Person

Oh the boy. Oh me the crazy person. Oh what a long week. Oh my dramatic heart.

SO basically, without getting too much into it (despite what you may think I DO realize this is a public blog;). We went out for drinks on Monday and had a nice time...besides the fact that he smelled, haha, i forgot to tell some of you that, haha. I know he had gone to the gym so maybe he just stunk from that...but it was just sweaty man smell which I dont mind tooooo much. Plus, I smelled like Marc Jacobs Daisy so I made up for both of us. it was funny though. I didnt tell him so, dont worry.

ANYWAY, so we were having a nice time and he invited me over again for our next date on the upcoming weekend...again, I refused. and again he questioned me as to why I refused. After a bit of an awkward debacle about how "Im not that kind of girl", and hes somewhat confused, it was time to go so he walked me to my car and gave me a weird peck of a kiss and that was it. SO I assume thats it. I never expected to hear from him again.

Based on my experiences with men (limited, but still existent) once they realize Im not sleeping with them on the first few dates, they're over it. Mostly because women are whores nowadays and they can just find someone else. Also, its NORMAL for me to think that when hes inviting me over to his house, thats what he means, RIGHT? im not totally insane here. So I was all frustrated with men and women in general and questioning my classy way of doing things (SO YOU MEAN TO TELL ME I EITHER HAVE TO BE A SLUT OR AN OVERLY PRUDE CHRISTIANY WERIDO?! THOSE ARE MY OPTIONS?!?!?!). I was just sad and reminded about being alone, and feeling like a crazy person, etc.

BUT (and its a big but), just as I was over it and wasnt worrying about it anymore by wednesday, HE CALLS.

yeah. seriously.

and acts like nothing is wrong. but im super surprised so he asks me why and we get into it. He explains that when he invites me over, he is really just inviting me over and ISNT insinuating anything and isnt a gross guy who likes slutty girls anyway. He keeps telling me hes a good guy, he doesnt treat girls like that. and I keep telling him that based on my experiences im just trying to be cautious. and that I dont have to trust him yet after 3 dates. so we keep talking and even more surprising the conversation ends nicely. he texts me later that day because hes thinking of me. he likes me. he just may be a real gentleman. I just may have watched too many Lifetime movies or Law and Order SVU and may be a little crazy. we're going out again this weekend.

the end.

lesson learned: dont be a crazy.

PS: Thanks everyone for all your comments. They are always so helpful and sweet. Love you all!

I'm a crazy person.

He said he'd call and he always does so I wasn't worried all day. But
then it got to be evening and I started to panic. Reviewed the entire
date trying to figure out what I could have overlooked as not good,
sat in bed for 20min feeling sorry for myself, planned a clever text
to send him if no call by 9, and then as soon as I had written him off
and regained my self confidence as an amazing woman...he called.

Were going to have drinks tomorrow night. (trying to avoid his house
like the plague.)

I'm a crazy person.

The Dinner Date

Luckily I got rid of the rents so he could pick me up without having to meet them...i mean, I think he would have totally fine and my parents could have probably held it together...but I just didnt feel ready for that. I dont want all my dates to have to meet my parents, I still want it to be a kind of special thing. SO he picked me up in his Mercedes, and I looked pretty stinkin hot (curled hair, fake eyelashes, the whole deal), and he told me I was pretty, and we went to When In Rome.

He ordered us really good wine, at my request of nothing too dry. They made me an AMAZING pasta primavera at my request of nothing with cheese or meat. Our cute old italian waiter tells me, "oh, we'll make something for you, we'll make something for you.". The pasta and sauce were SO fresh Ive never tasted anything so flavorful! Then I broke my no cream rule and had a bite of 3 desserts, all of which were delicious. Besides the yummy food and atmosphere, we had such a nice time together. Had so much to talk about and we both just get along really well. We really like to discuss things about just different random stuff. We are both opinionated and like to talk about stuff, which is so fun to have someone to talk about stuff with. And its never heated, its always just in fun and in the end we just agree to disagree or laugh. So that was great.

Then he invited me to his house. And I knew that wasnt a good idea. So we went to a quiet bar down the street instead. We just talked and enjoyed each others company more there, and I realized half way through the conversation that I hadnt noticed anything else in the entire room...we were just totally in the moment enjoying our time together. It was sweet.

He kissed me.

He complimented me lots.

He also offered to take me to his house 2 more times, which I politely refused and changed the subject. As much as I want to, I mean...I am a real person, Im just trying to be a lady. A nice girl. Being a nice lady is a lot more work though.

He said he would call me today, and we might have plans for tomorrow. He always calls when he says he will and will usually text me or something...but nada today. NOTHING. and its getting late and im anxious. Which is annoying, because after the first date I only kinda cared if he called or not. But now all of a sudden Im all fussy and anxious.

But im just about over it. As in, if he doesnt call he doesnt call.

Im not super duper attached, we just have fun together and its nice to be liked so of course I dont want that to end.

He has a few more hours, we'll see how it goes.

A Lunch Date

WELL
I forgot to tell you all that I had another date with someone else on Monday. We went to Poisidens in Del Mar. It was beautiful, right on the beach, and such a nice day. We had a nice time, lots to talk about getting to know each other and everything. He has a good job, nice things, nice car, sounds like he has a good family, likes to travel, has lots of things to keep him busy with friends and activities during the week, hes a good guy. My only hesitation is that he isnt "my type"? Im just SO attracted to the arty musicy Indie guys who never like me back and are typically pretentious jerks anyway without jobs or proper social skills. He is the polar opposite. Works in intense corporate America and LIKES it, which, you know me, so NOT my thing. This guy is great, we just dont have anything in common really, which also seems to freak me out a little. He does like to travel and do cultural stuff like I do, but more because he was raised to like them and less because hes a freak about them like me. Which is fine, at least we'd have some things to do together.

Anyway, we had a really nice lunch. He knows how to treat a girl, which was really great. Opened doors, paid for everything even my valet, always made sure I had sparkling water, it was a good time.

SO he called the next day (crazy right) and we are going to dinner again on Saturday.
I'm just excited to get to know him more and to have fun.
Dating is fun.
It just requires a lot more thought.

Your all so excited you get to follow along on my dating adventures, hehe.

Currently watching a crazy movie called Rabbit Proof Fence. Its for my Art & World Cultures class and its such a crazy story. I cant believe just 80 years ago this happened. They used to STEAL aboriginal children from their families and send them to live in schools to learn to be servants where they could only speak english and had to follow Catholic traditions. Its really awful to watch. And amazing how the Australians didnt learn from how awful our Native America "re-education" plan went. Its pretty much the exact same thing. so sad.

Ok, back to work.

Hes Just Not That Into Me?

WELL
He texted me this morning to say that he had to go to the ER last night from fainting and got stitches so we had to put our date on hold for now. I asked what happened and he said that he went to the gym yesterday for the first time in more then a year (which I think is cute since its probably because he had a hot date with a certain somebody;) and didnt drink enough water and then had some beer and fainted and cut open his bottom lip. so embarrassing, hehe.

Thats not a brush off right? And he told me today at 11a.

Too be honest, Im pretty ok with things. I mean, I was excited to go out and I actually think it could have been a good date. But for a number of reasons its ok with me (for now its ok...this will change if I actually never hear from him again)
1) My face is all broken out from eating too many nuts. I know, right.
2) Friends are having a fun pre labor day party today and I was going to miss most of it, so Im glad I get to go now. Im also making delicious food for the party and really wanted to get to do that.
3) I need to re-dye my hair but didnt feel like doing it. Now I can do it tomorrow and he'll never know.
4) I have such skepticism about boys already, that I had very little hopes up about anything actually happening. so really, I'm not too dashed
5) 2 other boys wanted my number to ask me out sometime this week, so this isnt the end of the world. Although he was my favorite one I think.

So we'll see.
Oh man, I sure hope things work out with him solely for the reason that someday he can discover my blog and what I wrote about him. mwahaha.

Cry Face! and others.

So the last few days, for NO apparent reason I have been so teary eyed at the most RANDOM things. This happens every once in awhile, unrelated to hormones, but just because.
Here's a list of things that have made my eyes well in the last few days. seriously RIDICULOUS!

-So You Think You Can Dance best 15 dances:
A lot of them are really powerful, but teary eyed worthy? Especially after Ive seen them at least 3 times before? I dont know about that.

-Bleeding Love song by Leona Lewis:
It was on the radio on the way to work today and I just got all weepy because I related to the song about being alone...but then it was about being in love now...and then I realized Im not actually that lonely (certainly not enough to cry about it!) and then realized Im crazy. But got all teary anyway. so funny.

-Shawshank Redemption Movie Clip in Class:
We were discussing how music effects people in amazing ways, and watched the clip when he plays the opera over the PA system and everyone stops what they're doing and listens. I couldnt handle it, even though Ive seen it before, I got all teary eyed AGAIN.

-No Cars Running song by Arcade Fire:
Again, have listened to this song a million times, but for some reason this time it was so beautiful it made me cry. haha so lame.

Ill try to take note of when the other instances take place. Im sure this is just the beginning.

In other news, all my clothes have stains on them. Well, not all of them. But the set of revolving dresses I wear on a regular basis, 4 of them have stains...out of like 7. Lets see...one got apple cider vinegar on it from when I put it on my dogs wounds. I spilled food on my blue stripey one. I spilled burrito on my painty one. And today I put on a green one thinking it was stain free, but no. I just found a weird grey stain right on the front of it. Now I have all this laundry to do. But I do think its funny. All the clothes I have to wear in this weather I cant wear because they have stains. silly.

ALSO
I have a date on Sunday! weird right? Im not making a big deal out of it, because Im not expecting anything to happen. It will just be nice to be taken out and it will be fun. He did a god job planning what we're going to do, so if anything Ill have fun doing that. Besides, dating is supposed to be fun! I really wish it was a date with the boy I have a crush on, but apparently he sucks at actually asking for my number or asking me to do things. ANNOYING. thats right boys, I said it, your annoying. get it together.

School started this week. I actually like my classes but am so NOT excited to be back at school I had a rough week. I was just so cranky and tired. Over it. I think im also just really burnt out of the teaching stuff and am sick of everyone in my cohort. Too much togetherness under high stress going on our 3rd year together...not fun. But im extra excited for my 2 art classes...but am still in denile I have a HUGE amount of reading and homework to do. Trying to get it all done so I can actually enjoy the holiday weekend.

Note to self: wearing hair in braids on top of head like Heidi=bad hair days to follow. But it was worth it.

The Last of my Life + BIG news!

Last Day of my Life:

WELL. this is it. my last day of freedom.
I cant believe the summer is over already! it seems like I was just whining about how bored I am...summer school...heat...beach...wow. over.

Tomorrow I have a BUSY day too. The beginning of a very busy week, which will reflect my life from here on out. BUT its my last official semester as an undergraduate!!! So, really...its like my last FIRST day of school?! yay!

but not really since teachers have first days all the time and ill be getting my masters eventually and will have to do this all over again, bleh. but having this long worked for, cried over, hateful, exhaustive BA done will feel SO great! and then its just fun student teaching (and by fun, I of course me equally exhaustive) for the spring semester and I'm PEACING OUT!!!

so today im trying to get everything done before my live is over. Cleaning out my car (this is a big deal for me, as you should well know), hanging up forgotten pictures, cleaning out corners, cleaning my bed sheets, spa day, errands, cooking for the week, everything I know I wont have the energy for ever again. sad.

unfortunately its so dang hot I can only do a little at a time before I start literally DRIPPING with sweat. I prefer to just look at the projects that need to get done while sitting in front of my fan.

BIG NEWS:
well, Ive tried to tell everyone whose really close to me before I posted it online, and I think I've pretty much succeeded, so here goes for everyone else--- I have applied for Teach for America (through Americorp) to teach in the inner city of NYC (hopefully). I made it through the first application, and I'm on to the phone interview now at the end of September. Then its on to an in person interview in October, then I find out a few months down the road if and where I will be placed. soooo yeah. CRAZY right. Its a 2 year program, I get paid decently, and I get to pay back my loans and work on my masters degree for free! YAY! so thats pretty exciting. a little scary, but in a good way. so, im sure Ill gush more on everything later, but for now I have to focus on the task ahead of finishing the year strong.

I miss Disneyland.

I forgot

Forgot to add this to the Disneyland pictures of me and Kels. This is a good one from this year!(me. naked. obviously.)

-------------------
Had a nice time with friends this week. But am really tired and spent the day napping and catching up on my shows (yay!). I did venture out to take alex to the airport this morning and later to get a vegan burrito from Ricos. Otherwise, nada. it was awesome. tomorrow i got meet my teacher for my student teaching this semester. Im excited, its a 5th grade class which ive done before but this will be more intensive. and 5th graders have grown on me a lot since then which is why I chose 5th, yay! haha watching Kathy Griffen stand up...shes so funny making fun of Hollywood. love it.

There was a cake episode this week.
Check it out on my other blog: thisgirlsvegan.blogspot.com
it was a doozy.

I think I might have a crush on a boy! which is always fun. oh to be young again...

Too tired from too much fun!

Yesterday and today were crazy! Short version: Cleaned the house and had family come on Saturday. Drove down to Micahs late to spend the night and ended up going out for drinks and dancing with her and her lovely friend boy Alex (so fun!). Woke up at 6am (oh, life with room mates;) then Picked up lady alex (friend from DTS) this morning and spent the day with her, micah, me, and cammie. Got breakfast, coffee at cammies hotel, walked around Cornado, the Hotel Del, and along the beach. Napped and ate burritos then came home with Alex. Got everything together here for her and myself after having family stay in my room. Sat and watched Friends and tried not to fall asleep while eating snacks. Had family friends here the entire time but was too tired to interact with them.

my eyes hurt from exhaustion. my feet hurt from not wearing proper shoes for walking all day. my head hurts from lack of sleep and too much fun. time for bed!

lovelove.

Kelsey and Esthers Disney Adventures Through the Years

Kelsey and I decided to take a look at ourselves from the past few times we've gone to Disneyland. I can now rightly say, things have only gotten better.

What Have I Been Doing, you ask?

I had such a great weekend! Me and Kelsey spent Sunday going to her church, eating delicious vegan food at the Veggie Grill, shopping at the giant Forever 21, and then the evening at Disneyland! I was so exhausted afterwards, but poor Kelsey had to go to work the next day, must have been rough!

Unfortunately on Monday I wasnt feeling very well (lack of sleep and an allergy attack) so I drove home from Kelseys and then just passed out with the doggies for a few hours before Jordan and Annie came by for a visit. Then me and Jordan went to the market because i haven't gone for 2 weeks and was tired of eating chips and guacamole for lunch everyday, ha.

Lately I have been watching Dexter season 1 (as inspired by Cassie actually), just finished last night! LOVE it so much! The plot was so developed, normally I can always figure out who and why the bad guys are on those kinds of shows, but not this one! and I love the depth and deep questions Dexter makes the viewers ponder. I find myself thinking a lot while watching, which means its definitely a good show. I finished it though, so its time for a break. While I was going to bed I couldnt get the image of blood out of my head so I knew it was time to quit for awhile. I have Mad Men season 1 on the way, we'll see how that goes. But instant watching is so much easier!!!

Bella is doing better. Her little feet are looking a teeny tiny bit better, but I most notice her personality is back! Shes perky and sweet again, even though she still cant really walk. Its nice to have her back after months of her being so tired and sad ALL the time. Hopefully we're now on a good path to getting her better.

one of my friends and I decided that if neither of us still has a man at 40, then we will get pregnant at the same time (hello sperm bank) and have babies anyway! We also decided that we would like to live in a duplex so we could have our own space, but still have fun with our babies together. we were SO excited! And it made both of us so hopeful for the future. Being SO single is rough. And by SO single I mean, not even a date in the last...I dont even want to say. But at the same time, I love being an independent young woman. I know I dont really want to be married right now either, although a bf would be nice, but whatever. I can do whatever I want. I can go wherever I want. I can sit all afternoon in bed with my dogs and watch Dexter and bake pies and no one can stop me! It was such a freeing concept when I realized I dont NEED a man. I have amazing girl friends and a promising future once school is over. I have done so much that I am able to figure out any situation without the help of a male counterpart. Im not saying it wouldnt be NICE to have a lovely boy around. And I think we were made to fit nicely with a male partner, but i still dont NEED them. I am perfectly able to take care of myself, thank you. And when I feel alone, I have about 10 girl friends and some rents who can tend to me, thanks. That being said, Im not lowering my standards just because I hate sleeping alone. So Mr. i-dont-have-a-job-and-live-at-home-cause-im-lazy guys who somehow find me at every bar or party, you can turn yourself right around. Im not that desperate.

I think I have been watching too much Sex and the City. or Hes Just Not That Into You. haha.

On todays agenda: walk Worms. buy Bella more fancy dog food in Del Mar. Buy vegan chocolate chips for my pie. Bake pie. Pick up room. Watch something lovely. probably nap.

This is my life now.

But PS, this is my last week of enjoyment! Next week I have friends in town, start my teaching internship, and work. then I start school the 31st! sad times. Im trying to enjoy every last second of my "boredom" as possible!!!

Man this ended up being long. enjoy!

This Weeks Vegan Menu: for your enjoyment

This is my life now:
I just made roasted veggies with tofu for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow.

Also on the menu this week are:

-Vegan burritos: Ezekial WW tortillas, vegan canned refried beans, brown rice, avacado/guacamole, and salsa. ive been craving burritos like crazy and im so excited!

-Rice & Bean Salad: A really fresh sounding mix of yummy beans, tomatoes, peppers, corn, avacado, and spices. I think im most excited because it requires NO cooking, just a bunch of chopping and throwing together. yay for summer salads!

-Yummy Rice: This is gonna be another huge mix of veggies, tofu, a little rice, and spices. Supposedly it makes a huge amount, so im excited to have lots of extras.

GRAND FINALE!!!

Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie!!!
The cookbook says is supposed to be amazing, since its also known as "orgasm in the mouth" pie.

Sooooo whos coming over for dinner?!

yes, this is my life now. I hang out with my dogs, cook, do crafts, bake alcohol pies, watch reruns and old movies on TV, and clean.

its official, i am grandma Esther.

Oh the joy of having doggies

This morning Lola (Worms) slept in until 9am, which was very exciting. Until i got downstairs to get them out of their house and it smelled so bad I thought to myself, "oh man, we need to wash their blankets! gross!"

however, when I unfurled the sheet we have over their house, and let Worms out. The evidence of poop EVERYWHERE was overwhelming. And heres Worms jumping all over me with poop all over her feet and getting it all over the carpet. Literally, poop paw prints all over the carpet on outside of their house. and then theres Bella. Poor sicky Bella. All curled up away from the diharria all over the blanket. Kinda brown in patches. all upset and embarrassed. so I made worms go outside since she was all crazy getting poop prints everywhere. and i got sad Bella out and washed the blanket and her poopy socks.

Then it was time to wash the girls. Bella was so upset she seemed actually excited to have a bath. and Worms wasnt as bad as Bella so she was ok. Then they were all happy and running around the house all clean and perky.

however, for this Momma it wasnt the best way to wake up.

im a good momma.

Baking a Pie Day!

Well today was a good day. Busy, but lovely!

This morning I had a little laser appt. and then went to the market for the week. I love the market, all the nice boys ask me if I need any help like 5 million times, its fun. Then I came home and ate the veggie sandwich i got along while shopping. By then I was tired (naturally) and Bella wanted to snuggle and nap with me, so we did. Shes not much of a snuggler, but since shes been sick and so tired and sad, shes been extra snuggly. After our little nap, I cleaned the disgusting kitchen and then decided to bake my long awaited vegan apple pie.

I made a lovely oatmeal crust and then started on the Apple filling part. Unfortunately, i didnt read the directions and just started dumping everything together. Apparently you dont do that with apple pie. Apparently you have to cook all these things separately and then put it together...um, its a lot of work. and thats an understatement. After I made the crust, i had to peel and core and cut the apples. then cook the apples and raisins together in water, then add things to them but I ran out of syrup so I had to use honey (not technically "vegan", but it is to me), then seperately sauté some of the leftover apple water and corn starch, then mush it all together and bake it. Then I had so much leftover filling, I had to have Annie run some oatmeal over to me so I could make another pie! We managed to almost finish the first pie tonight, between my family and Annie and Jordan too. I was SERIOUSLY surprised that it turned out so yummy! Last minute I found some random sugar free syrup in the fridge and added a bunch to it because it wasnt tasting sweet enough. Everyone liked it! yay me!

Today my mom asked if i wanted to stop by her work. my response, "oh i dont think i can, i have to go to the market, then bake and pie, then weight watchers. basically im turning into a grandma."

so true. so true.

BUT a grandma that can bake vegan pies (with honey)! yay me!

Also, today I found out that Olivia is having a BOY! SO exciting! I cant wait to go shopping! Now I can start putting a real face and name to the little love bug. Hes going to be so fun!

Lets see, tomorrow Im going to maybe get my car washed (inside and out! i know your so proud) and then hang out with Alyssa and her friend, now my friend, Emma. I should probably find some time to craft too, i just bought a new glue gun so I can start my bows. yay!

lovelove.
also, new glasses too! so fun!

A Whole Week Off! What to do?!

Hooray! Summer vacation has really begun! And its a good thing too, since its probably the last one ill ever have. Im done with my summer class, Done working extra and random jobs, done with all my errands, even my summer "to do" list is almost finished. Now all thats left is random little things like some crafts, hanging a picture thing up, books to read, and i do need to get my car washed actually. But pretty much, summer is here!

I feel like when i was a kid because i just get up when I want, do whatever I want, and am kinda poor so I dont actually have a lot of options.

Lets see, Ive been filling all this weeks time with cooking and baking yummy vegan things (i love it!). Working on my Paris scrapbook, trying to finish reading LOTR (i think i need a break for something easier actually), cleaning my room, taking care of sick Bella, and planning my escapes. Im starting to get claustrophobic again here in north county/San Diego/So Cal. I just found out ill be getting financial aid again so hopefully I can get out of here sooner than later!

Im all out of sorts today, since I had things planned to do but the cleaning lady is here all up in my grill. I cant work on my scrapbook, cant really shower or get ready to go anywhere, cant bake the cupcakes I was planning to make today, cant hang the picture thing...im just all out of whack. Im not really "bored", just dont know what to do out of the options. and because Irma is here so I cant be in my space.

I have some exciting things coming up though, Kelsey is coming this weekend. Im going to visit Kathleen in LA the second weekend of August. My friend Alex comes to visit at the end of August. And im going to try and go to Disneyland as often as possible in between my black out days and school starting.

But for now, I should probably go see if shes done so I can take a shower or brush my teeth or something. jeez.

Anything new

Well things have been busy, but fun! I just love summer! Im not going to lie, the heat is starting to get on my nerves...but im just thankful for the cool nights, my little fan, my pool, and my little dresses. Saturday I failed the science part of my CSET ( i think) but i think I passed the math part. I studied a lot for it, but nothing i studied was on there. It was basically a crap shoot the entire time! Then i took a lovely nap before heading over to Kathleens for some much needed pool time with old friends. Nice and relaxing, just what I needed after that death of a test.

Then Sunday I went to Disneyland with Micah for her birthday!!! It was SO fun! I just love disneyland! And surprisingly the lines werent even that long, and we avoided most of the heat too. I have to say, the new fireworks show is AWESOME! I cant wait to go with the rest of you and watch it again and again! Next time im buying Mickey ears and am getting my name on the back...actually, i know I have some lying around somewhere, i have to find them! I want to wear them so badly!

This weekend Im working OUTSIDE of comic con. Im really sad I dont get to go to it, i have all these panals I want to go to from my fav shows, and im so bummed im missing it. but i get to hand out flyers and people watch so thats better than nothing i guess.

So Ive officially been a vegan for about 3 weeks or so now. Ive had a few sweet things that probably had milk or eggs in them, but other then that ive been rocking it! Its hard sometimes, like with the sweet things, but i just try and stick to my soy ice cream and vegan cookies i make instead. Its been to hot to cook lately though. Ive finally figured out why everyone eats salads and BBQs in the summer. I made the mistake of making cookies yesterday, i got so hot and sweaty afterwards I HAD to get in the pool. tough life i lead.

tomorrow i get to go see Harry Potter! So excited!

so many things!

I guess I havent updated in quite awhile! So sorry faithful blog readers, i know you love me. haha.

ok, there has been some serious events going on lately. ok, not really. But serious enough for me.

1) I think i broke and/or seriously sprained my middle left toe. Yes, thats right. my toe. I went to uncle dan and josis to hang out on Friday evening and was just walking normal but somehow stubbed it on the couch and it hurt SO BAD. Then I woke up and it felt even worse...but was now black and blue and swollen. awesome. So i walked on it all sore all day Saturday and Sunday and then rested and iced her. Finally yesterday (tuesday) she started to feel better. And now it doesnt hurt at all..unless I stub it again...which somehow keeps happening! And Sparky really likes to step on my feet when hes excited. so thats awesome.

I think ive mentioned that Ive been doing a kids art camp the last 2 weeks for the city of carlsbad. its been really fun, but pretty tiring. Its four hours of running around after the kids, getting together supplies, washing brushes and tubs, filing their art work, hanging up pictures, im going a little mad. I think also because im not teaching, its not as fun. My favorite part is sitting with the kids and helping them...and doing the projects of course...but its less of that and more of just prepping projects and cleaning up. I just miss teaching. but its still fun, and im learning a lot, and the kids are super fun, and sometimes i get to do the projects and thats really fun too.

Last weekend was fun. I went to uncle dan and Josis Friday evening to eat delicious food and watch 24. I got to play lots with lukey and that was super fun too. Then Saturday I had lunch with cammie and then hung out with Micah and some of her friends. We went to a party one of their friends was throwing in Tierrasanta. my goodness, it was interesting! We were the only white people really there, and it was huge party with a TON of alcohol people kept bringing and TONS of food. However, the best part was when the hosts performed a bunch of poetry along to some acoustic music. It was so amazing! I was extremely impressed at their talents. It was such an interesting group of people, to say the least. just how they even dressed, was SO different than what Im used too. We had such a nice time just watching the evening unfold. It was pretty sweet...and amusing.

On Sunday we went o have lunch at St. Tropez, which i LOVE. I have one like 15 minutes from my house, but somehow only go to the one downtown. silly. Then met my momma at Nordstrom to buy myself some new undergarments. woot.

Speaking of lunch, Ive decided that my favorite foods r lunchy European foods. I could eat panninis, soup, salads, pasta salads, caprese salad, pretty much for every meal. I really want a sandwich press. Im such a freak for panninis, I should really just invest in a press instead of always ordering them out. Even without cheese they are so delicious! hmm I wonder how vegan cheese would taste?

I miss Cassie. She officially moved to Sweden. I think about her everyday and miss her a lot. I also miss Europe. I know its only been like 6 months, but thats 6 months too long for me. Usually I miss Paris or Vienna or Berlin...but today I miss Florence. I know ive said it before, but I could totally live there. Much easier then I think Paris actually. Just logistically with the language and getting around a such, Florence is a cake walk even compared to Paris which isnt too difficult either.

Lately ive been thinking about my life one year from now. I know I dont need to make any decisions now, but i just have so many options in front of me. Where do I look for a job? Around here? downtown? abroad? What do I want to do? Where do I want to live? its going to be so crazy, my life is going to change so dramatically its overwhelming. but i just have to remember its not for an entire year.

I got glue in my hair. aww man.

Bella story #5007

When bella is across the room and looks at me, I wave to her. I've
done this for a long time and just recently realized she's a dog and
has no idea what I'm doing. But I do it anyway. Mostly because she is
the best.

so NOT in the mood for this crap

Well, today has been quite the event...and its only noon(ish). Im so fussy, I decided to vent and let you share in my troubles. I know these dont quite compare to some other peoples troubles, but still. as my title says, Im so NOT in the mood for this crap.

1) stayed up way to late last night watching Harry Potter 5 with brother. its just a really good movie guys. but unfortunately, now im super tired and irritable.

2) woke up at the crack and am not only having a bad hair day, but my face suddenly broke out, I have one of those giant chest zits which none of my shirts will cover up, and none of my appropriate clothes are clean or dry or wrinkle free. off to a great start.

3) after pulling it together I finally make it to work and am settling in trying to get some homework and studying done but the calls for the lawyers I answer for (among other people) are RINGING OFF THE HOOK. Not only ringing non stop, but EVERYONE is SO rude and bitching at me if I transfer them to someone who doesnt answer. Um hello, its not my fault. What do you want me to do about it-leave them a message and leave me alone! I should have counted how many rude people there were, normally its pretty bad-but today there was record amounts.

4) and then to top it all off, the postage machine broke. It says it needs new ink, so when i put some in I found on the supply shelf it still doesnt work. I fuss with it for an hour, talk to Annie, go on their website, call the support people. Seriously, this is what i dealt with ALL morning. We have mail that needs to go out, so im all stressed out. Then I had to figure out how to order more ink, that was a whole other fun adventure. Finally, $200 later, we have more ink coming next week.

5) besides all of that, its just a busy day in the office in general. phones keep ringing, lots of meetings with clients coming in, faxes like crazy, all these packages keep coming. SO crazy. I finally finished my homework, but still have all this studying to do for the RICA TOMORROW!!! So much for a relaxing day at the office studying.

some lovely things that happened though are
1) the cute kid whose visiting his grandpa who works here. He was just in the bathroom with grandma and after I heard the toilet flush he shouts "good bye poo poos!" it was hilarious! and then he went skipping through the halls and grandma whispered "now how did Grandma say to walk here? very businesslike, right!" so stinkin cute.

2) some lady who hardly ever works here had her super cute assistant in and out. we became friends, he was very pretty. not my type, but pretty. and despite my ugly day, I think he may have been flirting with me.

3) I remembered my pink crazy straw so every time I drink my water I'm SO happy!

4) I brought Lord of the Rings to start reading today. So as soon as Im done studying for the RICA some more, im in it to win it!

5) I brought yummy jasmine tea and cashews today. they're making me happy.

so thats it so far. i hope it calms down now that its officially Friday afternoon.

This is my Life!!!

how much do you LOVE this picture?! Not only is it super cute, but it pretty much shows my life in one single picture!

1) baby on my lap? check.

2) baby having fun with a crazy straw on my lap? check.

3) little white fluffy dog on my lap? check.

4) still engaged in the conversation with everyone all at the same time? check.

this is forever me. a bunch of kids, fun, and dogs all at the same time. i love it!

hehe.

Oh awesome

I forgot to tell you, I have an eye infection in both eyes: AGAIN. No,
I don't know how I got it. Yes, I am a very clean person...who happens
to wear contacts, have dogs, and have seasonal allergies.

Here goes another $20 for all new eye makeup. Dang, being infected is
expensive.

In other news: girls vegas weekend is happening!!! Were more excited
than should be allowed. Partly because um, hello it's vegas. Party
because we have a sweet rental car a fancy hotel and are bringing our
best dress up "going-to-town" clothes, but mostly because we have so
much fun all together and it hardly ever happens and we just love each
other so much!

Except we all will be missing Cassie too much and it just might ruin
the trip:(

I started summer school today. It's going to be a lot of work but I
think it will be one of my more interesting classes. It's about
analyzing advertisments and popular culture and finding which groups
are superior and which are being stereotyped. We only meet on Tuesdays
which is nice and then have a ton of online work for the rest of the
week, so that's sweet. Except, my group members and the entire class
actually are all very...well...strange. And I'll just say it, not
sweet. But I do have one of my good friends from school in the class
with me so hopefully that will make it a little more bareable.

I watched one of my all time favorite films tonight, Empire Records.
It's just so bittersweet to watch because it just makes me miss Cassie.

I've been feeling reallllllly tired lately. Like today, I came home
and napped as usual. Typically I sleep for less than an hour. Not
today, today I managed 3 hours andam about to go to bed now again!
I've been feeling kinda lethargic, extra cynical, and even a little
tummy sick too. So weird. But tomorrow I'm taking my infected eyes out
around the burbs for some shopping! Besides replacing all my eye
makeup, I have birthday gifts to buy! I wish I was as excited about
those things as the exclamation points appear to be. Sadly, eeyore is
still in town:(

Airport Events

Flying anywhere is quite the event. But it's always more fun when your
alone (for many more reasons) because strangers really like to talk to
you, and you have all this extra time to people watch. It's pretty
much THE BEST! I will take note as these events occur on here rather
than in my journal so you can share in the hilarity that ensues.

1) there were only 2 seats available in the area and me and another
normal looking girl went for them. As we were sitting down I said just
friendly, "the only two available!". She sat down, turned to me and
says in a thick southern accent, "Virgin is supposed to be the best.
And I didn't like Continental, they were rude." I stared in disbelief,
not quite sure what to say...then she added "I didn't like Delta
either". I was so taken aback I didn't quite know how to respond so I
just agreed and she turned back to what she was doing...it was weird.

2) a very cute younger girl and a very NOT cute middle aged man were
awkwardly sitting next to me. The girl got up to go get food and the
guy calls one of his friends and proceeds to tell an entire story of
how they had an awful trip and she broke up with him during the
trip...I think they were visiting her parents and he was rude or
something happened...I missed some parts because I was trying not to
laugh. He was talking about how awkward it was traveling home
together, but how she was talking a little bit to him and was working
on her book. Then she came back and he got up and excused himself so
he could finish the conversation. It was AMAZING.

3) I highly recommend flying from SD to SF on the right side of the
plane on a clear day. It just flew along the coast! It was beautiful
the entire hour ride!

4)don't worry, I was all crammed in the furthest back right window
seat but the middle and window in front of me was open so I got to sit
up there with no one in between me and the young tobacco chewing man.
So let me get this straight, I got to sit all comfy for an hour
reading my super awesome book, drinking my complimentary CAN of diet
coke, and gazing out the window at the beautiful Cali coast? Sounds
like vacation has begun!

5) there is a really cute guy on both my flights today. Too bad he's
wearing a headband.

A day at Disneyland

Things I've learned from Disneyland:
1) I will never wear a fishermans hat

2) I will never spray down my children with so much sunscreen they are
dipping white spots

3) I will never wear a black bra with a backless ugly top

4) I will never wear a finding nemo scrunchie as a grown woman

5) I will never wear bright shiney gold gladiator sandals with my pale
skin, or ever.

6) I will never come to dland pregnant or with children in need of a
stroller

7) I will never have children and I will never feel bad about my weight.

It was quite a day!

Rocket Man

oh man, Im at the office today, and just groooooven to my EJ singin Rocket Man. I wish I was alone so I could just sing out loud and dance around...i guess nobodys really around...EJ can really sing it! hes pretty much awesome.

as you can tell, its early.

A few things have already happened today:
1) I woke up with bloodshot and sore eyes. this has been happening a lot lately, and all i can think to blame is the weather or allergies since im getting enough sleep, my contacts are pretty new, and I think im staying hydrated? hmm maybe thats the problem...maybe its time to start pumping the water. especially since ive been exercising so much lately. hmm. but I just love caffeine!!!

2) someone left some unmarked chocolate cakes on my desk. I immediately decided not to eat them for one single reason: they are most likely poisoned. then i realized that was silly, and changed my mind to "im on a diet". but then i went back to my poison idea, since its obviously true. someone leaves unmarked chocolate cakes on your desk? hello! its like a death threat right there!

3) i cursed the coffee machiene this morning, it was going SO SLOW to brew me my much needed cup of coffee. then i realized im crazy and addicted to coffee since it was going the normal pace as every other day. i camped out by it anyway and pounced on it as soon as it was done.

4) the weather said it was going to be really hot today. but apparently that wasnt for the coastal county, so now im freezing in this sun dress all day sitting here with the heater on. someone already came in and kinda made fun of me. awesome.

GOOD NEWS!!!
im done with school!!! yes its true! the semester has finally come to an end! im really anxious to get my grades, since the biggest percentages of our grades were final projects we dont know the grades of. but im not stressed about it, i know ive passed everything, and i did my very best, so im not worried. now im just enjoying my day "off" from doing homework...i just get to sit here at the office and read my fashion magazines and my book about another impressionist artist i love. maybe ill get to catch Fresh Air on NPR today. go for a walk during my break. you know, be a real person! i love it!

this weekend is going to be full of FUN & somewhat celebratory events. At least, they will be celebratory to me! tonight im having a mini dinner party with the Speelmans, Micah, and Cammie! a little YWAM reunion! yay! tomorrow me and momma are doing a 5K in the morning, then having a family lunch at a surprise location for mothers day! if there is time, im going to swing by my friends graduation party, but most importantly im heading up to kelseys for a night of fun before a day of disneyland on Sunday! a lovely weekend right! i feel so blessed! its like all these fun events happened upon a weekend when i needed it most!

next week im working for annie everyday while she gallivants in the pacific northwest for a fun vacation, so needless to say, expect lots of updates;)

i wanna go to a padres game SOOOOO BAD!!! i cant go for like the next 3 weeks due to too much fun, but maybe after i get back from Vegas with the girls...hmm. i just want to eat crap, drink cheap beer, and laugh with my friends outdoors while being minorly entertained by fat old men and hot young men running around after a ball, is that too much to ask?!

oh man, the song from the wedding in Old School is on the radio now...oh, this is going to be a good day!

School moms

I have to say, sometimes the moms in our school classes are awesome.

They always bring good food, ask the questions no one else wants too,
and you can always count on them to be a good group member.

Such as today, when the weird old lady in my theatre class brought
fresh vegetables and tools to make fresh guacamole and spinich salad!
How legit is that?!

Fabulous.

well its been an interesting week.

I was (and am) still coming out of my fussyness as seen in the previous post. But dont worry, more fun happened.

I had a busy Tuesday planned with errands and homework and a meeting galore. when suddenly, the fridge and freezer officially decided to just stop working.

yep, just stop working.

at first I was just going to eat everything I could, as inspired by Joey from Friends. But then i just decided to cart as much as I could to the other garage fridge we have. its still kinda working, so whats left in there will hopefully not spoil completely. But since it had apparently been slowly stopping working for awhile, a bunch of my freezer food (i live off of frozen meals, thanks) had kinda thawed out and then got refrozen in the garage freezer, so its always a toss up when i cook my food these last few days.

on top of that, when i as leaving the house for my meeting, after carting all the food outside of course. my key wouldnt go in the lock...it kept getting stuck halfway. now, this has been happening for years whenever the weather changes and for some reason the rents wont replace the damn lock. so the other day i kicked it in and it worked, but when i tried to do it this time, it just broke in half. with the rest of the key still stuck in the lock. brother took a part the lock today to get it out.

so that was a fun day. but then me and annie went to Rubios for their delicious health mex mahi mahi burritos and to the dollar store and TJ Max. good purchases were made.

i have officially finished 2 classes and will finish another tomorrow! next week i have 2 papers to submit and a very difficult science final...well 2 science finals really...but dont worry, we only get credit for one class. thats been fun.

summer is so close i can TASTE it.

there are 2 things i love about wednesdays and 2 things ONLY.
1) LOST is on. what more do I need to say there?

2) after a horribly long day at school, my puppies and I all snuggle in for a little nap. When I wake up they all jump on me and snuggle and try and kiss me. I like to think its because they love me, but really its because they want dinner. but still, is the BEST.

did I tell you about the time i took them for a long walk and Bella got so tired she just crawled under a parked car (for shade) and just layed there in the dirty street? and then I had to carry her up the last hill because she just could NOT go on. shes pretty much the best dog ever.

Concernation

Concernation: the act of being concerned in past tense. could also be a music festival. (yes, i just made that up)

ive been feeling really weird these last few days (no, not swine flu-te). just really mopey, tired, grumpy, lonely, fussy, and extremely bummed out on everything i engage in. this happens sometimes to everyone i suppose, it just really sucks. Ive been really trying to pray about it and continue with my normal life...but its just not going away. Its seriously like Eeyore and the black little cloud that follows him around...but im trying so hard to blow that cloud away and be content and joyful in where my life is right now...but its just so much work. ive been trying to identify the source of my depression-like issues and have come up with a few ideas: spiritual warfare, physically & emotionally tired from 3 months of hell/school, claustrophobic from being in this town too long, etc. maybe tomorrow will be better.

things here have been kinda crazy. my parents went to visit family in canada for 10 days and im house sitting. suddenly brother is here and his room mates come visit (past experiences with these room mates has proved dramatic and horrid in my life) and apparently they are all being evicted and have to move out in like 24 hours. so he and one of the room matea are on the couch when i came down this morning and their stuff is everywhere. the dogs are all stressed out and keep biting their ankles which i think is funny. and everythings a mess and its stressing me out. so much for a nice quiet week with the rents out of town.

me and my dad have discussed starting a garden in the back side yard. we have space and to make the beds would be so easy (thanks ReadyMade for the directions in my recent issue:). we could have fresh organic veggies and itd be so fun! we'll see if it works out.

im not getting school work and reading done because i keep reading my fashion magazines. its a bit of a problem. Good thing its summer in 2 weeks and I can read all the fashion magazines i want! mwahaha!

lovelove.

OH! I forgot to tell you I turned into a NERD

You know you are a nerd WHEN...

1) you used to listen to normal fun radio (AKA the Mikey show) or a pull from your music collection in the mornings while getting ready and on the way to school and such...now its just NPR. and you love it so much you just cant seem to get enough! and then you go tell your dad all you learned that morning cause your just so excited!

2) you also follow NPR on twitter, and love it.

3) you've watched LOST since the beginning and know everything that is happening, and during the show you just randomly will shout "THIS IS SUCH A GOOD SHOW!!!"

4) your suddenly excited about the new Star Trek movie and were screaming from real fear during the sneak clip during LOST last night. (no seriously, its going to be awesome)

5) you've read all of Twilight, Harry Potter, and Chronicles of Narnia...most of them twice.

6) your looking forward to really reading Lord of the Rings over the summer.

7) lastly, and most importantly: you reallllllly want to go to Comic Con this summer. like, so bad.

oh man, I am the COOLEST!!! Good thing a bunch of you are in the same boat with me, we can all wear pocket protectors and go see Star Trek together! ahaha

in other news, my HUGE science presentation is tomorrow. its like 20% of my grade (or more) for like 3 of my classes. a pretty big deal to say the least and we've been working REALLY hard on everything so i think its going to be wonderful! im so sick of everything though that im having a hard time getting excited for tomorrow...at this point im only excited to get dressed up, go out for drinks afterwards, and have it OVER WITH. sitting through 5 hours of other presentations isnt looking particularly appealing either.

training for the 5K is going well. i just LOVE walking! today we went extra because i didnt go for 3 days...a lovely 30 minute brisk walk...wonderful.

i keep forgetting im going to Portland soon. crazy!

currently im making a dent in my summer movie list by watching Center Stage which just happens to be on HBO right now! amazing! oh man, the acting is so bad in this movie and its topped off with a Mandy Moore soundtrack and amazing dancing...its just so many things all in one.

Fridays

My favorite thing about Fridays, is that I get to do homework all day! woohoo!

Speaking of which, I thought you would "enjoy" reading my journal posting for one of my assignments this week. Compared to my peers journal postings about what a busy week they had, their birthday plans to get drunk over the weekend, and some I cant discern because somehow they are in my program and dont speak English, I thought mine was rather good;) anyway, see below for some stimulating fun/a peek into my boring but kinda interesting? life.

In other news, Im almost done with the aforementioned school. just 2 weeks of normal/crazy school and then a week of nothing but a science final. and then im done! woohoo! summer is just around the corner! yipee! However, recently ive run into "more time" since we're kinda winding down with all the projects and such...however im not quite sure what to do with myself besides sleep. I'm so tired and sick of people that its all I can manage to do. Maybe once school is really over Ill take a few days to recoop and then be a normal person and tackle this mounding list of "summer fun!" things.

Tomorrow is the engagement party and im SO excited. I was a little anxious before because I wasnt sure who would be there and if I came alone would it suck because i wouldnt know anyone, but Allie is the best and assured me it would be all my friends and some, but not all, strangers. but then I remembered that im outgoing and like meeting new fun people and felt even better! sometimes i get so immersed in school and work, i kinda forget who I am. I just become this machiene that does things then sleeps. I think thats why I love to travel and spend time in the city. It reminds me who I am.

anyway, heres the silly assignment.

Journal Week 13
This week I have finished the Bruer book, which I found very informative and helpful as seen in my Theory 1 paper. I am really able to see the connections between the process of science as a method for learning all subjects, and how the process of becoming a novice to an expert as seen in the Everest exercise, can assist us in our future classrooms. Before I go into this weeks reading from the Flynn book, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on how I have connected these ideas to my future profession. As I have probably mentioned, my real focus and passion throughout this entire program has been in the arts in regards to wanting to become an elementary art teacher or children’s museum program leader. As I think about this process of going from a novice to an expert, I think about how I look at art as opposed to how my students will look at art. As an expert in my field, I know almost all there is to know about a designated art piece and am able to figure things out (such as who painted it, when, where, metaphors, etc.) an untrained student, or novice, can not. I have spent official class and work time immersed in my chosen field, use my spare time to immerse myself even further, and then use this overflowing knowledge to guide other students to be able to see and understand things as I do. The official process guides use to teach students how to look at art even reflects the process of science and learning. We simply ask them questions such as, “What do you see?”, “Why do you think the artist chose to do that?”, “What do you think this means?”, etc. This shows the teacher what the students already know and leads them to build upon how they see art. By having students actually do art and leading them through that process, also follows the science and learning process. Another key benefit of this, is when students DO art and see how difficult and challenging it is for a novice, they come to appreciate and understand classic and modern art pieces and the expert artists so much more. Just as we have done with the Everest climb and climbers!

Just a few chapters into the Flynn book, I am already enjoying the easy read and getting back into Everest. Although the Bruer book was a much welcomed break (despite the more difficult reading), I have to admit I missed my Everest friends and analogies. From the very beginning of chapter 2 I knew I was going to enjoy the writing and nature of this book. It seems that he views crazy Beck Weathers and Ed Viesturs the same way most of us do, and it looks as though we will be watching Flynn go through the process of novice to expert right before our very eyes as we read this accounts. I also really related to the situation on page 13 when he had to take his team member down the mountain and started being fussy about having to miss the rest of the climb. When his teammate started to cry, Flynn realized what a jerk he was being and apologized and said “Your friendship means more to me than the summit”. How well this connects to our current school situation. I know all of us are sick of each other and get snappy when having to be together so much under the mounds of mounting pressure and stress over the group projects and assignments. I found this quote to be encouraging and if you have read this far, hopefully it will be encouraging to you too. How much does you’re A+ really matter if everyone hates you when you get there? Why not do YOUR best work, LEARN as much as you can, and laugh and enjoy the rest of the ride? You’re A+ may not mean as much in the long run if your left all alone. Of course, this pre-capstone weekend may change my mind on all of this, but hopefully I’ve prepped myself enough to make it through without regret! We can do it!

No more cheese

I smell.
I'm lactose intolerant.
But I've been craving burritos.

You do the math.

No more. Even my dogs don't want to hang out with me. And you all know
how I feel about my dogs.

Today in biology we learned about worms. And I thought of my Wormy
girl doggie (AKA Lola). And laughed again because my dog responds to
Worms or Wormy simply because we are weird people. She doesn't even
have or has ever had worms. Oh man I'm laughing out loud again. In the
middle of a science quiz, oops.

I'm supposed to go to an engagement party this weekend. I was really
excited and even hve my outfit picked out, until I was reminded that
most people bring dates to these events. I asked Alyssa, who is by no
means an expert, but she still confirmed my questioning. Now I have I
choose: embrace my single and fabulous life, or skip the party and
hang out with other friends who don't remind me I'm alone.

A girl has to wonder, what would Carrie Bradshaw do?

I know the answer to that. Time to dust off the fabulous outfit I
never have a place to wear;)

Whyyyyy

I just threw a book out into the hall for no reason. Well, I was
trying to close my door without getting up from working on a "very
important" paper.

I missed.

Why hasn't anyone invented an automatic door closer? I mean, seriously
people, this is 2009.

Trying something new

ok, so i havent been posting because a) i truely am extremely busy and exhausted most of my life during this semester. and b) i dont have much to post unless you want me to whine about my horrid school life. i rarely go out or see my friends (besides my fun trips of course), so there really isnt much to post. c) because i havent posted in so long, i feel this "hangover" effect (as i like to call it), that i need to post a long recap of things.

ok, with that being said ive decided to try something new. ive set up my phone to be able to email and text in updates AND im going to keep them short and sweet. if you care about my life THAT much hopefully your my friend on Facebook and can see my pictures and are my Twitter friend too! otherwise, this will have to suffice. but i promise it will be good. so here goes.

currently im at work. some events.

1) two blue mugs. one filled with half cup of coffee. one filled with blackberries. Guess who put her hand in the wrong blue mug?

2) i thought to myself "oh im so excited for summer reading! I wonder when the next harry potter book is coming out? OH MY GOSH THAT IS SO SAD!!!" apparently im re-entering mourning for the ending of one of my favorite series. i think i may need to just re-read the last 2 books and just be excited for the movie. oh Harry.

3)how does one know when which fruits are in season? does it matter since we live in socal? because these blackberries and some strawberries i had recently werent very sweet. they were organic, does that matter? i think someone should make a calender of when different fruits are in season so i can buy them.

4) tomorrow me and annie and jordan are having a girls relaxing/beach/spa day! its supposed to be sunny and in the high 70's and annie is housesitting for a condo RIGHT on the beach!!! so excited!!! i have a list of girly things to do (being a girl is a lot of work! right!), gonna buy some gossip and glamour magazines, and just ENJOY my life!!! for a whole day!!! EXCEPT i really miss Kelsey now. She should be with us and im bummed she wont be. I've been thinking about how i miss her for a few days now, and i think saturday may just be my breaking point! i just have so many people to visit and not enough time:( ive been wanting to visit Kathleen in LA forever, of course Kels and a new cousin in newport, and always micah and cammie downtown. having all these kinda long distance friends is exhausting! i like sleeping in my own bed on the weekends too people! quit moving away!

5) in other news, im training for a 5K! woohoo! of course, i could easily walk a 5K now, but not very easily at a pace higher than a stroll. so im taking it to the next level and walking at a more moderate and brisk pace and making my dogs stay caught up with me! (if im doing it, Bellas gonna lose that girth too!) i get training from a free online program and its so nice! ive been lagging slightly on my exercise regime, and this totally got me excited again! i love walking outdoors! its the best! and since im not quite a beginner, the program has been pretty easy so far, and im excited to keep going. i love 5K's, they are so fun! ive done quite a few, and everyone was just the right amount of workout with a complimentary t-shirt to boot! woohoo!
